Punjab education authorities have officially released a province-wide schedule for summer camps aimed at keeping students engaged in learning during the upcoming summer holidays while also addressing extreme heat conditions. According to the plan, summer camps will operate daily from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, a timing specifically chosen to avoid peak temperatures and ensure student safety. Officials explained that the early morning sessions are designed to minimize heat exposure while still supporting academic continuity. The shortened duration of the camps has been introduced to protect students’ health while helping schools complete syllabus targets within the academic year. Following requests from private schools seeking permission to continue structured learning during vacations, the government approved the initiative starting from the first week of summer break. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that the camps will run for one month only and will strictly follow regulated timings. He emphasized that the initiative balances education with safety concerns amid rising temperatures. Meanwhile, private school representatives have also advocated for shorter vacations, citing learning gaps and academic disruption, especially in matric classes. The government had earlier announced summer vacations from May 22 to August 23 due to a severe heatwave, prioritizing student well-being across Punjab.
