Punjab Education Department Rolls Out Updated Textbook Plan Across Punjab Schools
The Punjab Education Department has introduced a revised textbook distribution formula for government schools across the province ahead of the new academic session. According to the plan, new textbooks have already been dispatched to district and tehsil-level warehouses, with strict instructions to ensure timely distribution before classes officially resume. Under the updated policy, students from Classes 1 to 3 will receive 100% new textbooks, ensuring full coverage for all enrolled learners. For Classes 4 and 5, around 80% of students will be provided new books, while the remaining will be supported through the book bank system. Students in Classes 6 to 9 will receive 50% new textbooks, with the rest supplied from previously collected usable books. Meanwhile, Class 10 students will be given 100% new textbooks due to the implementation of a revised curriculum. To support this system, schools have been directed to strengthen book banks by collecting usable books from outgoing students. Authorities have emphasized that distribution will be strictly based on updated enrolment data to ensure fairness, transparency, and uninterrupted learning for every student across Punjab.
