Big Shift in Education: Lahore Board Plans Fully Online Admissions
Students enrolled under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore may soon witness a major transformation in the admission system as authorities move toward a fully digital, paperless framework. According to official sources, the board is reviewing plans to discontinue the requirement of submitting printed admission forms and physical documents, even though applicants currently complete the process online. At present, candidates from government and private colleges are still required to provide hard copies, creating additional workload and delays. Each year, the Lahore Board handles nearly 600,000 matric students and over 500,000 intermediate candidates, making the system one of the largest in the country. Under the proposed reform, all admission steps would be completed through an online portal, eliminating paperwork and manual submissions entirely. Education officials believe this upgrade will streamline operations, reduce administrative costs, and save valuable time for students and institutions alike. Sources further indicate that the proposal will be presented in the upcoming meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen for final approval. If implemented this initiative could ease the process for over one million students annually and modernize examination administration across Punjab very soon ahead.
