Govt Employees Push for Major Salary Boost Ahead of Upcoming Budget

The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) has intensified its demand for major financial relief for government employees ahead of the Federal Budget 2026-27, calling for a 200 percent increase in basic salaries along with a 500 percent hike in house rent, medical, and other allowances. According to reports, the association’s central leadership has formally submitted a six-point charter of demands to the federal government and has announced a protest demonstration scheduled for June 2 in Islamabad to press for immediate acceptance. APCA representatives argue that persistent inflation, rising utility costs, and overall economic pressure have sharply eroded the purchasing power of public-sector workers, making current salary structures inadequate for even basic household needs. They maintain that a comprehensive revision of pay scales is essential to ensure financial stability for employees across departments. Alongside monetary demands, the association has also urged the government to reconsider ongoing privatization policies, warning that such moves could adversely affect job security and the efficiency of public services. APCA has appealed to government employees nationwide to join the upcoming protest in large numbers. Meanwhile, authorities in Islamabad have begun tightening security arrangements ahead of the expected gathering as discussions on budgetary reforms continue at the federal level.
