Pakistan on Monday received its seventh liquefied natural gas shipment from Qatar amid rising uncertainty in Middle East tensions involving Iran and the United States. The LNG carrier MRAIKH arrived at Port Qasim with nearly 170,148 cubic meters of LNG loaded from Ras Laffan under a long-term contract indexed at 13.37 percent of Brent crude prices. Officials said the National Crisis Management Cell facilitated additional imports, coordinating multiple LNG cargoes since late April to strengthen national energy security. With this arrival, Pakistan has now received seven shipments from Qatar since late April, reflecting efforts to secure stable fuel supplies for households, industry, and power generation. Energy analysts note that steady LNG inflows help cushion global market shocks while ensuring continuity in electricity production during high demand periods. Authorities emphasize maintaining adequate imported gas reserves as essential for economic stability and uninterrupted nationwide power supply. The latest shipment is expected to provide short-term relief to the energy sector and strengthen overall supply security in coming weeks.
