Sindh Education in Crisis: Matric Papers Leaked Before Exams

The Sindh matriculation exams have been thrown into controversy as reports of paper leaks emerge just before their official distribution, casting a shadow over the credibility of the annual assessments. In districts like Naushahro Feroze, the Class 10 Urdu paper was circulated prematurely, reaching students via WhatsApp and even being sold for profit, exposing serious lapses in exam security. Inside examination centres, authorities noted continued misuse of mobile devices to access solutions, despite repeated warnings about strict anti-cheating measures. In response, the Sindh government has implemented new safeguards, including watermarking on exam papers to trace leaks, as announced by Sindh Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo during a review meeting on exam preparations and anti-fraud arrangements. This year, over 1.35 million students from grades 9 to 12 are registered across more than 1,600 centres, highlighting the scale of the challenge. The Board of Secondary Education Karachi has also released a revised schedule for the 2026 matric exams, starting with the Class 10 Computer Science exam on April 10, followed by Class 9 Computer Studies on April 11. Morning shifts will run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with students advised to arrive thirty minutes early to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.
