Job Seekers: LinkedIn Lets AI Take Your First Interview

Published

on

LinkedIn is testing a new AI-powered feature that allows recruiters to delegate the first round of job interviews to an automated system. Currently available in early testing for LinkedIn Hiring Pro users, the tool lets recruiters invite up to 40 candidates to complete an audio or video screening conducted entirely by AI. The system generates interview questions tailored to the role’s qualifications and suggests ideal responses, which recruiters can review and modify before sending invitations. After candidates complete the screening, recruiters receive the full transcript, audio or video recording, an AI-generated summary, and a five-point rating assessing how closely responses match the pre-set ideal answers. While recruiters maintain full control over evaluation and hiring decisions, candidates can request access to their transcripts, ratings, or recordings. LinkedIn cautions applicants to avoid sharing sensitive personal information such as health or disability details, emphasizing that the recruiter sets the legal basis for processing. The AI interview tool represents a major step toward automating early-stage hiring, offering efficiency for recruiters but raising questions about privacy, personalization, and the human element in recruitment.
