Empowering Women in STEM: British Council Announces 2026 Scholarships
British Council has announced fully funded Women in STEM Scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year, offering female students the opportunity to pursue higher education in United Kingdom. The program, part of the Going Global Partnerships initiative, is being offered for the sixth consecutive year and aims to increase female participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while promoting leadership and innovation in these fields. The scholarship supports one-year master’s degree programs at leading UK universities and research institutions, helping talented women gain international academic exposure. So far, the initiative has partnered with 43 universities across the UK and awarded around 500 scholarships worldwide. For the 2026–27 intake, each scholarship is valued at at least £40,000, covering tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs, visa fees, health insurance, and English language support. Globally, 90 scholarships are available across 30 countries, including 25 scholarships reserved for South Asian applicants in partnership with five UK universities.
