Pakistan Plans Large-Scale AI Training Programme for 20000 Youth
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has launched a major national initiative to strengthen artificial intelligence capabilities in Pakistan, aiming to train 20,000 individuals through structured online programmes over the next 6 to 12 months. Under the National AI Advancement Initiative (NAIAI), the government has invited proposals from private firms and consortiums to design and manage a complete digital training ecosystem, including course development, learning platforms, registration systems, assessments, certifications, and expert-led instruction. The initiative is aligned with Pakistan’s Digital Vision and National AI Policy, targeting participants from diverse sectors such as education, government, business, healthcare, agriculture, fintech, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. Training will cover key areas including machine learning, deep learning, AI ethics, and foundational AI literacy, with each module designed for 18 to 24 hours of online learning. Authorities have also mandated inclusive participation, requiring at least 30% female representation to ensure nationwide digital equity. The selected partner will be evaluated through a strict quality and cost-based system, with 80% weightage on technical capacity and 20% on financial proposals, while only technically qualified firms scoring 70% or above will proceed. Requirements include a minimum three years of training experience, Rs50 million annual turnover, and deployment of at least 10 qualified trainers. The programme is expected to build a strong AI-ready workforce and accelerate Pakistan’s digital economy transformation.
