The Punjab government has officially greenlit Pakistan’s first fully underground metro train for Lahore, marking a historic milestone in the country’s public transport infrastructure. The 27km Blue Line will stretch from Valencia Town to Babu Sabu Chowk, providing a modern, efficient transit option for the city’s commuters. With an estimated cost of over Rs600 billion, the project is designed to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve daily travel for thousands. Authorities aim to complete construction within three years, targeting a daily ridership of more than 250,000 passengers. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and modern safety features, the underground metro is expected to set new standards for urban mobility in Pakistan.
