Pakistan Announces $1 Billion Push for Artificial Intelligence Development

Pakistan has announced an ambitious plan to invest $1 billion in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by 2030, marking a major step toward strengthening its digital economy and technological infrastructure. The initiative, unveiled by the government, aims to build a strong AI ecosystem that supports innovation, research, and economic growth across multiple sectors including agriculture, health, education, industry, and governance. According to official details, the investment will be part of a broader national strategy that also includes introducing AI education in schools, expanding digital skills training, and developing research capabilities within the country. The government has also committed to awarding 1,000 fully funded PhD scholarships in AI and training around 1 million non-IT professionals to help integrate AI skills into the wider workforce. This long-term vision is designed to prepare Pakistan’s youth for future job markets and position the country competitively in the global technology race. Experts believe that if effectively implemented, the plan could significantly boost productivity, attract foreign investment, and accelerate digital transformation.
