Learning Without Limits: Mobile Libraries to Visit Government Schools Across Lahore

Lahore’s education sector is preparing for a major transformation as authorities have approved an innovative mobile library programme designed to bring books and digital learning resources directly to government schools. With a proposed investment of nearly Rs. 198 million, the initiative will deploy 85 environmentally friendly electric vehicles converted into fully equipped learning hubs. These travelling libraries will carry a collection of educational materials along with modern technology, including tablets and large display screens, enabling students to experience interactive and technology-driven education. Under the operational plan, each mobile unit will visit a different school every day, ensuring that thousands of students gain access to reading materials and digital content regardless of existing library facilities. Dedicated charging infrastructure will also be established to support the electric fleet. Education officials say the project aims to cultivate stronger reading habits, improve literacy levels, and make learning more engaging through the integration of digital tools. By combining traditional knowledge resources with modern educational technology, the programme is expected to expand learning opportunities, reduce educational disparities, and provide students with a richer academic experience. The initiative marks a significant step toward creating a more inclusive, innovative, and future-ready education system in Lahore’s public schools.
