Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Announces Big Push for AI Education and Innovation Infrastructure

Pakistan is placing artificial intelligence and digital innovation at the center of its future economic strategy as global experts and policymakers gather in Islamabad for a major United Nations conference focused on technology and development. During discussions held alongside the event, Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja shared the government’s vision to rapidly expand the country’s AI capabilities through large-scale workforce training and upgraded digital infrastructure. According to the minister, authorities aim to equip nearly one million individuals with artificial intelligence skills to prepare Pakistan’s youth and professionals for the evolving global digital economy. She also emphasized efforts to improve the country’s technological backbone by securing advanced computing resources, including high-performance GPUs needed for AI innovation and data processing. Alongside the technology push, the government is targeting major growth in software exports, hoping to significantly increase revenue in the coming years. Officials are also collaborating with the State Bank of Pakistan and investment authorities to simplify regulations and create a more business-friendly environment for the IT sector and international investors.
