Kerosene Oil Prices Up Rs 39, Govt Confirms New Rates
The federal government has announced a significant increase in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil, while keeping petrol and high-speed diesel rates unchanged to ease the burden on consumers. According to the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division, kerosene prices have risen by Rs 39.20 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs 358.01 per liter nationwide. Light diesel oil (LDO) has seen an even sharper increase of Rs 67.51 per liter, now selling at Rs 302.52 per liter, up from Rs 235.01 per liter. The government has chosen to maintain petrol and high-speed diesel prices through a temporary subsidy worth Rs 23 billion, effective from March 14 to March 20. Under this scheme, oil marketing companies will receive a price differential of Rs 49.63 per liter for petrol and Rs 75.05 per liter for diesel, ensuring retail prices remain steady. Officials emphasized that this measure is aimed at shielding consumers from rising international oil costs while supporting oil companies through the subsidy mechanism.
