PTA Announces Immediate Rollout of Nationwide 5G Network Testing

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has confirmed that Pakistan is moving closer to the launch of 5G technology, with all major telecom operators fully prepared to begin nationwide testing. During a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology, PTA Chairman Hafeez ur Rehman stated that the first phase of the 5G spectrum auction has been successfully completed, and telecom companies have already imported the necessary advanced infrastructure required to start trials across the country. The testing phase will help assess network performance, coverage, and speed before the official rollout of commercial 5G services. Meanwhile, officials from National Database and Registration Authority addressed growing cybersecurity concerns, revealing that 1,400 new firewalls have been installed to strengthen digital protection systems. They also clarified that previous citizen data leaks were traced back to third-party organizations rather than NADRA’s core systems. With faster internet speeds and improved connectivity expected, Pakistan may soon enter a new era of digital innovation and smart technology.
