Amazon-Style Portal Coming to Pakistan to Support Small and Medium Enterprises
Pakistan is set to launch a groundbreaking digital platform designed to connect its Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with buyers from around the world, creating an Amazon-style marketplace that promotes Pakistani products globally. This initiative was announced following a high-level meeting led by Haroon Akhtar Khan, which included if Anjum”,“Secretary of Industries and Production”, Nadia J. Seth, and members of the SMEDA Board. The platform will focus on high-quality, value-added products, especially in sectors such as gems, jewelry, and automobiles, allowing SMEs to showcase their offerings on an international stage. Inspired by global giants like Amazon, Alibaba, and AliExpress, the portal will meet international standards to ensure global competitiveness. Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted the importance of digitalization in expanding export potential and enhancing market visibility for local businesses. A dedicated working group has been tasked with creating a strategic roadmap for implementation, ensuring the platform strengthens Pakistan’s presence in the global e-commerce ecosystem and helps SMEs reach new markets efficiently.
